"Greening the Grey"

De-paving public pavements in Heston with Hounslow Highways - 'Pocket gardens' being created on Heston Road and Vicarage Farm Road. We want this in front gardens too, not blocks and concrete, to help prevent flooding!

Accessibility - improving paths and creating a paved space for activities

We are planning to make our paths more accessible for wheelchair users and families - big funding needed though!  We are making a patio to enable socialising and activities by the polytunnel.

ABOUT hag

Heston Action Group began with a group of local residents who wanted to improve civic pride in our community by cleaning and greening Heston and beyond. In 2018 we began organising litter picking sessions, and we saw a need for a green space in which to concentrate our efforts to reach out to the community from an environmental, social and educational angle. Heston Community Garden was born in 2020 with the planting of 5 fruit trees donated by The Orchard Project and under the auspices of London Borough of Hounslow.

Located in Sutton Playing Fields, off The Crossways at TW5 0JG, the Community Garden has several vegetable patches, including raised beds in a mandala-shape, a bespoke sundial, a large wildlife pond, a medicinal garden, a polytunnel, a young food forest, and the West London Tree Hub. Our gazebo "Hub" is now in place to enable meetings, training sessions and other gatherings and we have a compost toilet for your comfort!

Our gardening philosophy is no-dig and permaculture-inspired, and we are fully organic.

There are many ways we can come together as a community, meet our social responsibility, and take ACTION.  Get involved in any or all of these!
