Spring & summer 2025 - events

Free outdoor cinema from creative people & places, heston & cranford local advisory group (H&C LAG- CPP)
On a clear, dry evening after all the rain, a diverse crowd of around 30 people came to the Community garden to enjoy an outdoor cinema presentation of "PK", a light-hearted romance story of a naive alien visitor to Earth. Thanks to CPP for making this possible!
hanworth air park biodiversity project & LNPC* Ranger activity
LNPC* Ranger and Friend of Hanworth Air Park Sarah Houghton led a small team to carry out river sampling and insect/crustacean identifcation to assess the effect of the culvert on the Longford River in Hanworth Air Park. As expected, there was less life downstream of the culvert.



An evening of soft lamplight and moths!
Tim Blackburn, moth expert, gave a stimulating talk and set up equipment to entice moths for us to view. Kai created a poem for the evening and Navdeep led a session of relaxing Qi Gong movements. Everyone had a great time!

AUTUMN 2024- EVENTS
NATIONAL TREE WEEK 23 NOV - 1 DEC
We will have have the National Tree Week celebration in Heston Community Garden on Sunday 1 December from 10 to 1pm. We will plant the 3 'Hounslow Wonder' apple trees, one in memory of Councillor Steve Curran who donated them, and restock two mini forests. Come and hear brief alks on composting, on plants knots, tree care and winter pruning (with live examples). Drinks and refreshments will be provided.

The Big Butterfly Count has started!
​
This year's Big Butterfly Count will run from the 16th July to the 8th August.
​

It’s a great thing to do with family and friends. Perhaps try out the wonderful space that is Heston Open Metropolitan Land. HAG have created a map setting out routes in Red & Green and the most popular access points in Yellow markers - click the link below to access the map. Bring a picnic too, but please remember to take your litter home with you.

Saturday June 26th 2021 - Delighted our request for some additional colour in Heston Park is coming to fruition thanks to Lampton GreenSpace360 and Hounslow Council.
​
Please join Heston Action Group volunteers and Lampton GreenSpace 360 between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, 26th June to plant some wildflower plugs. Why not bring along a picnic and make a day of it!
Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather, and bring a watering can, gloves and dibber if you have one!
